DONOR PORTAL

The secure Donor Portal lets you manage your fund online by viewing your fund balance, submitting grant recommendations, accessing fund statements, and viewing past grants.

DONOR PORTAL FEATURES

The donor portal allows fund advisors to see the most recent transactions. The portal is available 24 hours a day and can be accessed through our website.

  • Most recent transactions will be listed on the account’s main page when you log in.
  • Fund advisors will be able to review all pending and completed grants paid from the account using the “Grants” option in the menu bar.
  • Online credit card donations to a fund post daily and checks received by mail are processed weekly.
  • You will be able to contribute to your fund through the portal.
  • Mid-year and year-end statements will post directly to the Donor Portal under the Statements tab.

ADDING TO FUNDS

ACT for Alexandria offers several easy contribution options.

CHECK

Make checks payable to ACT for Alexandria and indicate the name of your fund in the memo line. Mail or deliver to ACT for Alexandria, 201 N. Union Street, Suite 110, Alexandria, VA 22314.

CREDIT CARD

Online credit card contributions (MasterCard, Visa, American Express, or Discover) can be made 24 hours a day, seven days a week on our website at www.actforalexandria.org/donate. Please note credit card processing fees of 2.2% for Visa/MasterCard (+$0.30) or 3.5% for American Express will be charged to the fund receiving the donation. Credit card donations are available up to $10,000, for gifts over that amount, please send a check, wire, or contact our office for assistance.

TRANSFERS

Please alert ACT for Alexandria of any transfer gift with written communication, by emailing Heather.peeler@actforalexandria.org, development@actforalexandria.org or by calling 703-739-7778. We partner with CarterHutchings, LLC to do all our financial transactions and back-office accounting. Instructions for each type of gift are detailed below.

If you would like to make a gift of mutual funds or restricted or closely held securities, please call us for instructions.

Wire transfer of cash

Please include any special designation and the amount of the gift in your communication to ACT for Alexandria and contact us at 703-739-7778 for instructions.

Transfer of government securities, stock, corporate bonds, and other marketable securities

Please include the fund name, a description of the shares, and the name of the brokerage firm in your communication to ACT for Alexandria.

Government securities, including treasury bills, notes, bonds, and FNMAs:
Please contact us at 703-739-7778 or development@actforalexandria.org to confirm our acceptance policies of these securities.

GIVING COMPLEX ASSETS

You may be able to attain a new level of giving you may not have considered possible through assets you already own. You can use our expertise to quickly and easily donate hard-to-value assets to donor-advised funds. ACT accepts donations of complex assets, including:

ACT for Alexandria is a public charity, so you will receive the maximum tax deduction allowed by law for your donation. You can also avoid capital gains tax, and you may be eligible to receive a lifetime income stream.
